Questions and Answers

Q: My neighbor is a widow whose husband left behind a Webley .38 caliber six shot revolver. I'm trying to find some ammo for her, but not having much luck. Would the Magtech 38 Short Colt 125gr LRN be a good round, or is there something else I should be looking at? It's hard to tell just by looking at it.

A: JohnW,

We always suggest that when you acquire an older gun and you do not know if the gun caliber has been changed that you bring it to a gunsmith/expert for evaluation. Because without studying/measuring the gun, in person, we can not give you an exact answer due to the possibility of an altercation to the gun/chamber. With this being said, takes no responsibility in guaranteeing the correct caliber.

When a gunsmith/expert evaluates the gun, in person, they can ensure that the gun was not altered and if so, they will be able to tell you what caliber/type of ammo to shoot ensuring the gun will be safe to use.

With that being said; if this gun is the Webley Mk IV .38/200 Service Revolver of the 1932-1963 time period and has not been altered: No, the 38 S&W ammunition would be the correct caliber.

Q: can this ammo be used in a 1905 colt 38 auto pistol?
Asked by:  - 2/9/2017
A: No, you need .38 ACP ammo to work in your firearm. The 38 Short Colt will work in .38 Long Colt, .38 Special and .357 Magnum. The ammo you need is .38 ACP, not .380, or 9x17. .38 ACP hard to find but is only one that will be safe in your pistol.
